Randamoozham is a malayalam novel penned by one of the living legends of malayalam literature, Sri.M.T.Vasudhevan Nair.It was published on 1984.
Randamoozham is a retelling of the Indian epic Mahabharata from the view point of Bhima, the second pandava. The story takes the reader right from the time of Kunthi and pandava's re entry into Hasthinapura, following king Pandu's death, through all the major incidents stated in Mahabharatha,to a stunning climax. The book beautifully captures the pain and shows Kundhi, Dhroupadhi, Dhronacharya, Yudhishtara, Krishna, Arjuna, Dhuryodhana and all the other major players of this story as mere humans of flesh and blood.Every incidents took place in Mahabharatha is depicted in this book in a new light. The author gave importance to each and every characters. The great cartoonist Namboodhiri gave more life to the characters through his drawings in the book.
This historical fiction book won many awards like Vayalar award and Muttathu varkey award. This is one of the Best book I have ever read.while we read this book we Slowly slip into another world.
The original malayalam version of this book is of 300 pages. To non malayalam readers, there is an English translation named ' The second turn'. I recommend everyone to read this book. The Novel probably will be filmed,as Sri.Mohanlal as bheema.
